Otis Cultural Council

 

May 18, 2022

 

Meeting held virtually on Zoom.  This meeting was recorded.

 

  1. Call to Order:  6:00 P.M.  Present:  Jeanne Randorf, Carole Burke, Deb Fogel, Arlene Tolopko, Shanon Albee, Maggie Bragagnolo, Carol Lombardo

 

  1. Approval of the Minutes of April 20, 2022. Deb Fogel motioned to approve the minutes.  Shanon Albee seconded the motion.  The minutes were approved.

 

III.  Chair Report (Jeanne):

 

  1. Flower Barrel Program: The program is doing great.
  2. Zoom Meetings: The governor is allowing Zoom meetings through August 1 (June 15 and July 20).

 

  1. Financial update (Shanon):

 

  1. Arlene and Jeanne’s reimbursement checks will be coming to them soon.

 

  1. The town gave the cultural Council $5,000 in FY 2022, which needs to be spent by June 30, 2022. Any local or school events will be paid from this account.  (Reimbursements do not come from town funds).

 

  1. The Cultural Council paid for the laminator at the Otis Library (from recycling funds).

 

  1. The town granted us another $5,000 for the next fiscal year, 2023.

 

  1. Future Programming

 

  1. Library Fair:

 

  1. Rick Hamelin has been booked for the library fair.

 

  1. Tim Van Egmond: the library would like to have him perform at the library fair.

 

 

 

  1. Celebration Committee:

 

  1. This event will take place on September 10 at The Knox Trail Inn.

 

  1. Celebrations committee will pay for food and band.
  2. We may have square dancing with Cliff Brodeur ($900.00). The Cultural Council will pay for this.  Arlene will confirm if he is available.

 

  1. School Performances/Field Trips

 

  1. Lauran Catullo’s musical performance will be June 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Farmington River Elementary School.

 

  1. Katherine Silk submitted $300.00 request for grade 3 field trip with Mass Audubon.  Deb Fogel motioned to accept.  Arlene Tolopko seconded the motion.  All approved.

 

  1. Chris Keller submitted $250.00 request for grade 5 colonial Camping Experience. Shanon Albee motioned to accept.  Arlene Tolopko seconded the motion.  All approved.

 

  1. Tech Sessions at Library:

 

  1. Jon Charrow would conduct sessions. He charges $90.00 an hour, $180.00 total for a one hour commute and a one hour session.  He charges  an additional $45.00 for a Help Session after the workshop.

 

  1. Jeanne will ask the Council on Aging if they would be interested in attending, and what topics they would like covered.

 

  1. Jeanne will check with Kathy Bort at the library.

 

VII.  Recycling Program (Deb):  The recycling program is going well.

 

The next meeting will be on June 15, 2022 on Zoom.
