The Town of Otis will receive bids for Mass DOT approved applications for the Full Depth Reclamation & Paving of a Section of Reservoir Road until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023. Bids are to be submitted in sealed envelopes plainly marked: INVITATION TO BID – 2023 OHD ROAD PAVING to the Board of Selectmen’s Office, Otis Town Hall, 1 North Main Road, P.O. Box 237, Otis, MA 01253 on or before the above date and time. The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 at 2:00 PM. Bid prices shall include all labor, equipment and material for a complete in place product at Reservoir Road. Bid prices are to be based on FDR with calcium, application of HMA Binder & Top mix along with Tack coat in between courses.


Specifications

The project consists of one section 4800’ in length by 18’ in width totaling approximately 9600 Sq. YDs FDR of the existing blacktop surface, calcium chloride at a rate of 1 Gal. per sq. yard, and the application of a HMA ½ Binder course of two inches and HMA top course of one and a half inches approximately 1890 tons. Tack coat at a rate of .05 gallons a square yard in between courses along with a Wedge joint to be installed on both layers of HMA as well. Traffic control will be provided by the Town of Otis. The base price for liquid asphalt at this time is $665.00 per ton and the base price for diesel is to be determined. Price adjustment clause in effect for hot mix asphalt mixtures. Bids are to include base price of liquid asphalt and diesel and must be OSHA 10 certified. Class of work is Pavement – Surfacing, Project value $230,000.00. Project to be completed per current Mass DOT specifications. Project is to be bid as one package. Prevailing wage applies as per M.G.L. Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27F and a wage schedule is included in the specifications. A 100% performance bond is required of successful bidder, 5% bond required with bid. Contractor must be pre-qualified by Mass DOT.
