Scholarship Committee Meeting Minutes
January 11, 2023
Otis Town Hall 3:00 pm
In Attendance: Laurie Nikituk, Lyn OBrien, Brandi Page
The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm.
We discussed the recent passing of Zonnie Hawley and her dedication to the scholarship committee for so many years.
Brandi Page was introduced as the new member. She is filling the position of outgoing member Patricia Richard who we also recognized for her service.
The minutes for May 5, 2022 minutes were approved by Laurie and Lyn.
Members are going to do additional research because we would like to add vocational scholarships too.
The members voted unanimously to give a $150.00 book stipend for the FY23 applicants at the time their scholarship checks are mailed.
The members voted unanimously to give a $150.00 book stipend for the FY24 applicants at the time their notified they have been awarded a scholarship for the town. This will be presented with their award certificate.
January 31st is the deadline to receive the required paperwork for the scholarships for FY23. One of the students has submitted all required paperwork and a voucher will be submitted for payment. The 2nd student will also receive a check as soon as the required paperwork is received. A reminder email was sent to the second student.
Laurie Nikituk was unanimously voted as chair.
The committee approved setting the budget for FY24 at $20,000.
Tasks were discussed amongst members and distributed.
The committee will meet again in April.
The meeting adjourned at 3:40 pm.
