New Applicant Interviews
for Highway Laborer
September 22, 2016
Present: Selectman Bill Hiller, Selectman Donald Hawley, Derek Poirier, Chris Morris
Interviewees: Daniel Collins, Harold Robitaille
This meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm and it was announced the meeting was being recorded.
The interviews were conducted with each interviewee and they were both aware this position was full time with benefits, with irregular hours during major weather events, and a hoisting license was preferred for the job. Dan did not yet have a CDL but was going for one, and he does have a hoisting license. He can start with two weeks notice. Harold currently lives just outside of Housatonic and will be moving to Becket soon. He is planning to pursue getting his hydraulics license. He has experience plowing state roads with his current employer and is an experienced mechanic. He would like to improve on his heavy equipment skills. He would be available to start after Columbus Day.
Post Interview Discussion: After the interview, everyone agreed both candidates looked like they were both ready to settle in to a regular job. The first applicant has more of an all around experience and has worked with a crew as well.
Meeting adjourned at 5:32 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa D’Orazio
