Otis Town Hall Conference Room

Meeting called to order at 6:02 pm in the Town Hall Conference Room, is being recorded, and a quorum is present.

Present: Bill Hiller, Larry Gould, George Mabee, Frank Tolopko, Laurie Flower, and Lisa D’Orazio

Others Present: Dave Rice, Lyn O’Brien

Approval of Meeting Minutes: The August 21, 2017 Technology meeting minutes were approved as written. Laurie and Frank abstained.

Go Live on New Otis Website: There were a few hickups with the August 31, 2017 roll out. The email subscriptions were a big problem, but are now fixed and the website is working. Bobby had to uninstall and reinstall the subscriber information to get it to work correctly. Lyn has a request in for enhancing the Print feature for the calendar in order to view a single month. And PDFs use two links to open instead of opening after just one link. Lisa was able to add the Agendas and Minutes to the webpage for each department, committee, and board.

Social Media on new Website: Since social media pages are already established for the Library, Fire Dept., and Police Dept., having a link to these social media pages should be allowed. Technology unanimously approved this request.

GIS Info outdated for Assessors: Vision data is updated on the new server, and Larry and John are waiting to hear that Mary is running good. Then we can have the Assessors upload to PeopleGIS. John and PeopleGIS will work together to set up the link to the service to do the upload.

Broadband Updates: Eversource is now doing make-ready work on Phase 1. According to Verizon, the anticipated start date for construction on Phase 1 is November 1^st, but we have not received any confirmation from Sertex, our construction vendor. Sertex needs about one week to actually string the fiber on the poles and then household drops will take additional time to complete. Our new Broadband website, OtisFiber.com, should be up soon. Bill was waiting for a final decision on the monthly subscriber cost for service.

Other:

Broadband Informational Meetings: The next one is scheduled for 6:00 pm October 24th and both Bill and Larry plan to be there. It was decided that Informational meetings no longer need to be posted.
