Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the chair, Nicholas DellaGiustina.
Community Participation:
Approval of Minutes of Meeting #344 Executive Minutes, #344: Jess Drenga motioned to approve minutes #344 and executive minutes #344 as submitted. Carol Lombardo seconded the motion. Unanimous vote yes on both.
Touch base on the Holiday Shop: Nick spoke to the PTA and suggested a craft table during the hours of the shop that the students can make their own presents for relatives and friends. The PTA is going to look into this idea before the Holiday Shop next year.
Principal/Superintendent monthly updates: Berkshire Theatre Group was a great success, but Tom is going to look into having the program after school instead of during school. Even though it is a great program it does take up a lot of time during the school day. The program runs for 16 weeks, an hour a day.
Teri Scott, the Pre School teacher is out on medical leave. Tom has received a letter from Mrs. Scott stating that she will be retiring the day after her medical leave. She has worked for Farmington River for 29 years. Mr. Nadolny has hired a substitute teacher to fill in for the rest of the school year. Nanette Higgins, who is a Pre School Teacher who has a Master’s plus 15, with 10 years of experience. Due to protocol, the position will be posted for next year and all applicants will be interviewed.
The School is getting ready for MCAS, grades 3-4. Grade 4 will be all online unless the student’s IEP indicates the student has to take a pencil and paper test. Will are still a level 2, hopefully we can reach level 1 status.
Nick DellaGiustina received a letter of resignation from Sandy Snyder from Sandisfield School Committee.
Discuss FY18 School Budget: Jane Gleason discussed the proposed School Budget for FY18. A comparison of this year and next year was presented. There is a copy of this proposed budget at the school if anyone from the community is interested in looking at it or would want a copy of it.
