Otis Historical Commission meeting February 7, 2018
Called to order 5:40 pm
Present: Diane Provenz, Sonia Morrison Kobrin, Thomas Garvey and Judi Mabee
Wolcott Stone: Sonia questioned if we would be able to engage volunteers to help Tom Ragusa with his attempt to get the Wolcott Stone listed on the Registry of Historical Landmarks,
Minutes of the January 9, 2018 meeting were accepted,
Title to St. Paul’s: Diane told us that the Selectmen have reported there has been no movement on clearing title to St Paul’s. Neither the Town of Otis nor the Historical Commission can pay the costs to Quiet Title so can any fundraising be done through the Historical Society?
Bonnie Parsons has submitted a detailed description of activities, costs and timeline to prepare forms petitioning the nomination of St Paul’s to be listed o the National Registry of Historic Places. A call was placed to her to discuss and see if any of the documents that we had previously prepared could be used to bring costs down. Advised we may have additional item to submit to Registry as well.
Budget for 2018 was completed and will be sent to the town for approval
Website: Entertained idea of reaching out to owners of historically significant properties in Otis to see if they would be interested in having their buildings listed on the Registry as well. Sonia agreed to be the contact.
Meeting adjourned at 7:00 pm
