Town of Otis
All Boards Meeting Minutes
February 25, 2019
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm in the Town Hall conference room. The meeting was recorded.
Present: Gary Thomas, Bill Hiller, Lyn O’Brien, Jim Crandall, Lisa D’Orazio
Town Clerk: The Rabies Clinic is being held on Saturday. There will be no Animal Control Officer there, which means it could be a little chaotic. Town Elections are coming up, Lyn’s been selling dog licenses, and the quarterly Ethics paperwork is coming in.
Maintenance: Snow removal is their primary job. Heat pumps are being installed also so equipment is no longer in the way. The inside work for the second broadband hut is complete. Conduit will go in once the frost has disappeared – we currently have about two feet of frost in the ground. As of April 1st the hauling prices for the Transfer Station are increasing. This increase may cause us to have to go out to bid for services.
Police Dept.: They submitted a written report.
Rec Center: They submitted a written report.
Technology: Bill noted the town just signed off on Phases 7, 8, and 9 and strand construction will begin at the end of March on Phase 7. Phase 3 drops are still being installed.
Planning Board: March 11 is a Site Plan Review and Special Permit hearings for the Waters Edge Condominiums.
The Board was asked about rumors in Town Hall. The Board was asked to consider retirement health benefits as Otis is only one of three towns in Berkshire County that does not offer them. The Board was also asked about the rumor we were going to biweekly payroll. Bill said it was going to happen and there would be plenty of notice, at least four months. However, it was noted that most of us do not bring home enough to cover a week’s delay with paychecks. Biweekly vendor warrants were not being considered.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Lisa D’Orazio, Town of Otis Selectmen’s Secretary
