Otis Cultural Council
July 21, 2021
I. Call to order : Meeting was called to order at 5:40 PM. Present were Jeanne Randorf, Arlene Tolopko, Carol Lombardo, Deb Fogel, Shanon Albee, Carol Burke, and Faith Weldon
II. Approval of the minutes of June 16, 2021 : Minutes were approved.
III. Chair Report : (Jeanne)
A. Introduction of guests : Carol Burke and Faith Weldon were
introduced to the OCC members.
B. Member status / Vicki officially resigned. Thanks for your work on
the OCC.
C. Meeting time change? Time will remain at 6:00 PM.
D. Submitted article to Otis Observer in re to upcoming programs.
Discussed programs that we supported which are taking place in and near our community.
- Consider adding grant criteria to our MCC application page.
Jeanne suggested 3 criteria to add to our application page.
- Apply online
- Programs for youth and community
- Low cost programs.
- MassCreative update. Consider joining MassCreative ($25- 50)
membership. Voted to join for the $50 zoom event twice monthly.
- Financial update( Shanon)
- Webinar on July 28, for new grant management system.
- Finances are OK.
- 2021 Grants:
A. Consider change to Grant# 27 Sculpture Now : Ann Jon $200
B. Feedback Grant #2 – FRRES Community Arts Production: Letter of
thanks to OCC from Laura Catullus for our support.
C. Feedback in re FRRES Music programs in Otis Observer : Great
article by Jackie Gentile on Enriching students through the Arts in
Otis.
D. Feedback from Otis Historical Commission. The recent hike on the
Knox Trail was very informative. Tom Ragusa has made a
recording that identifies all of the important land marks.
E. Feedback Art Close to Home tail walk : This was on the Old Mill
trail walk. App was available with audio interactive
experience.
- Purchase & Distribution of tickets for Rites of Passage: We will be
asking Diverse Otis to take over the distribution of tickets for this
event
G. Nice letter from WAM thanking us for our donation.
VI. Recycling Program (Deb) : We just received a check for $2,500. We have
17,500 in funds for the School message board. We discussed an the
Possibility of having the message board at Town Hall instead of at the
school. More visibility there.
VII. Proposed Meeting schedule for 2021( generally 3rd Wednesday of the month)
Aug. 18
Sept. 15
Oct. 27 or Nov. 3 Voting meeting ( exception to 3rd. Wed. schedule)
Next meeting August 18, at 6:00pm
