Principal Monthly Report—Report given by Thomas Nadolny, Principal. Mr. Nadolny gave an update of the past month at Farmington River. 6th Grade class went to visit SBRSD. The children loved the visit. There were activities and a cookout. A few Otis students were very interested in the school. A visit with BHRSD is scheduled for next week. Today was field day. All the grades participated and had a great time. As a special treat, Mr. Saloomey donated an ice cream truck to visit the school. The children were extremely happy and surprised. Mr. Nadolny also talked about Recognition Night on June 20th at 6:30. Last day of school is the 21st.
Expenditure Report for FY16—Jane Gleason to report. There will be a surplus of approximately $11,000 to be added to our E&D. The revenues are in line with the budget. Jane is anticipating regional transportation funds as budgeted. If a higher amount is rewarded, the extra funds will be placed in the regional transportation revolving fund to be rolled over and used towards FY17. Jane will have the final expenditure report at the July or August meeting.
Jane reported on the water pump situation and was happy to tell the Committee that the insurance claims that were submitted to cover the pump, paid all but $1000. Some electrical costs will be present with the final submission of the pump. We will use the remaining funds in a contingency fund from the roof replacement to cover costs. Using this fund will eliminate the school from having to utilize the E&D funds.

A breakdown sheet is available here at the school if the public is interested in looking at it.

Check signing changes: Jane Gleason explained she is no longer eligible to sign checks due to her position as Business Manager. This change has been recommended by the School’s auditors. Mrs. Gleason recommended the Assistant to the Superintendent, Teresa DellaGiustina, to be the designated signer when needed. The School Committee voted unanimously to assign Teresa DellaGiustina as the backup signer of the checks when needed. Also, Jane recommended giving authority to Tom Nadolny and Ilona Packie to have access to writing checks from the Petty Cash Checking, School Activity, Grade 6 Nature’s Classroom. The School Committee passed unanimously to grant Tom and Ilona authority to sign checks for these accounts.
A farewell to JoAnn Austin: The School Committee offered thanks to JoAnn Austin for the incredible and unforgettable job that she has done here at Farmington River School. JoAnn will be missed by all.
