Minutes for Meeting of
April 21, 2016
Otis Town Hall
Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm and is being recorded and a quorum is present.
Present: Larry Gould, Bill Hiller, George Mabee, Lisa D’Orazio
Others Present: Chris Lynch of Matrix Design Group, Frank Tolopko, Bob Rosen, Ken Mayer, Michael Ernst, and Kevin Donovan, Tolland’s Broadband committee chairman
Approval of Meeting Minutes: The March 21, 2016 Technology meeting minutes were unanimously approved at this meeting.
Review two Appointment Requests: It was recommended that both Frank Tolopko and Laurie Flowers be appointed to the Technology Committee and the committee unanimously agreed to present the same to the Select Board.
Review Computer Maintenance Proposal: John Shannon, from Network Engineering and Security out of Becket, could not make it to tonight’s meeting so this topic is tabled.
Other:
Social Media Policy: The new policy was distributed to all committee members.
Technology Emails: We should invite them to our Technology Committee meetings as a general policy.
Otis Pole Survey: We need to begin our own pole survey. This part of the project will cost the town the most money and doing our own survey will give us an approximate idea of how much this may cost us for this part of the Broadband project. The make-ready costs for approximately 2500 poles in town is currently unknown. Shutesbury has an Apple app for pole data surveys that we may be able to use.
Ashfield Broadband: Ashfield is looking to build their own network and are looking for best practices.
Matrix Design: Chris Lynch will be making a presentation at the New Marlborough Town Hall on April 28, 2016 at 7:00 pm and invited everyone to attend.
The meeting was unanimously adjourned at 6:30 pm.
