OTIS LIBRARY & MUSEUM                                                MAY 2019

Blooming time!  The sun is out, the temperature is up and there is freshness in the air!  This time of anticipation creates energy to get ready for spring and summer. Plants have gone through a dormancy and now with warmth, light, nutrients and water they are ready. Blooming is coming and it will be beautiful.  What are your blooming needs? Do you need peace and quiet or excitement and adventure?  Do you want to undertake a special project for the yard or garden?  Are you filling the longer daylight with more things to do and more places to go?  Please let the Otis Library help you with your blooming needs.

We have several new programs for you.   The Census Management Program is looking for workers in the Otis area.  There will be a representative at the library to speak to interested people on Wednesday May 1 & Friday May 24 from 1:00 pm -4:00 pm and on May 16 from 2:00 -5:00.  There are full time and part time opportunities through the fall with above minimum hourly wages.  For more information come to the library or go to 2020census.gov/jobs.

Our computer assistance programs On Saturday May 4 from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and Thursday May 16 from 1:00-4:00 will help you get ready with new devices, apps or software.   If you have time and you like community involvement, call to help with the planning for the annual Library Country Craft Fair.  Library Trustees Celeste Watman and James Adams are working on a new library project to digitize items in the museum. If you like history or if you know about Otis please consider joining them.  Also please know that the Council on Aging is offering a Senior Share-a-Ride service to provide assistance to seniors who need transportation to appointments. Please call the ride coordinator Ralph Gleason at 269-4094.

Our Museum passes have been renewed and most venues open this month.  Come see what is new at Mass MOCA, the CLARK, or Norman Rockwell.  For children take a ride to the Magic Wings, the butterfly museum or visit the Zoo at Forest Park. .

Mel Feldman will be exhibiting his artwork during this month of May and a special “Meet the Artist” reception will be May  4 from 12 to 1:30 pm., come see his work.  Do you have a special interest you would like to share, please contact the library.  We have many new books, audios, and DVD’s.  It is a cultivating time, feed yourself, grow and bloom.
