MINUTES OF APRIL 10,2019

COA MEETING

 

Meeting was called to order at 10:40 a.m. by Ralph Gleason

 

In attendance were Ralph Gleason, Joe Rock, Carol Blakeslee, Dottie D’Elia, De Egee, and Jane Bernasconi.

 

Minutes of the February 13th meeting were read and approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report was given and approved.

 

New Business:

Ralph explained the upcoming changes to the Council Member’s responsibilities.  A detailed Duty Roster prepared by Ralph was presented.  Important changes being:

Resignation of Richard Cicchillo

Ralph is planning to step down as Chairman at the end of

Dec. but continue as the Trip Coordinator going forward.

Possible replacement is ongoing

Dottie is stepping down as Treasurer and Jane Bernasconi  will become appointed the new Treasurer

Carol agreed to assume recording secretarial duties

Ralph plans to get select board approval for 7 council members instead of 5

De Egee would become a council member and the new Chairperson would be the 7th member

 

Discussion involved the possibility of offering a summer cruise opportunity in the future.  Further conversation and destinations pending interest.

 

Outreach program :  Ralph asked the Select Board for funding for one half year, as a trial program.  However, was granted $5,000 for a year.

 

Our quarterly meetings of the multiple area COA’s are ongoing.

 

The Share-A-Ride Program is if full swing.  Now we just need to get the word out.  We currently have 7 volunteer drivers.  De suggested that the service be put in the Otis Gazette and Otis Observer.  Also, our library would like to be able to post this service.

 

Ralph is still trying to secure a lawyer through the Mass Bar Association who would be able to present a program for the seniors concerning all elder issues.

 

Our June trip to Maine is all set, according to our trip director. Ralph!
