All Boards Meeting Minutes

January 28, 2019

 

 

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm in the Town Hall conference room.  ??? -It was announced the meeting was being recorded ???.

 

Present:           Don Hawley, Gary Thomas, Bill Hiller, Keith O’Neil, Jeanne Randorf, Tom Ragusa, Jim Crandall, Dan Hamill, Sonia Morrison, Diane Provenz

 

 

WWTP:           The plant is working well.  Normal maintenance has been done, budgets are ready, safety meetings and training are ingoing.  MIIA is happy with the progress.  The Safety and Personnel manual needs to be reviewed.

 

Maintenance:  Normal maintenance and snow removal are being done.  They have been working on the broadband hut, heat pumps.  Jim wanted to know who was responsible for the kitchen.  Jim suggested a new form for letting people use the rooms in Town Hall.  There is an issue with Fire – no washing vehicles in cold weather due to icing.

 

Historical Commission:  Tom Ragusa reported that DCR may possibly purchase property off of Norton Road.  Tom also gave a Knox Trail update.  Tom and Sonia had MA Historic training.  Sonia is working on a grant for the East Otis schoolhouse and St. Paul’s.  Part of the grant is to protect the buildings in perpetuity.  Becky will work with Historical on this grant.  Historical would also like to put this on the town warrant.

 

Cultural:          They issued $13,000 in grant monies.  Have of the grants are for youth programs and the others are overview of last year’s grants.

 

Police Dept.:   Dan reported that there has been an increase in accidents due to inclement weather.  Wellness checks are going well.  Firearms permits are going well.  Officers have been assisting when businesses close making sure folks get to their cars safely.  Dan is working on updating the Police Dept. policies and procedures.  The Police Dept. is working with Rec to possibly put on a bike rodeo.

 

Technology:    Fiber installations are going well.  Phase 3 begins installs the first week of February.  Phases 4, 5, & 6 are currently working on strands and fiber.

 

Municipal Light Plant:  Bill reported the accounting is getting better and the computer is getting up to speed.

 

Don noted that Emergency Management needs to set up a list of folks who can help in the event of an emergency.

 

Recreation:      See attached.

 

Celebrations:   They are working on their budget.
