August 21 2017 Public Health Notice: West Nile Virus
Berkshire Mosquito Control has advised the Otis Board of Health that a mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus (WNV) was trapped in Otis late last week.
While the Massachusetts Department of Public Health has not increased its assessment of risk levels in response to this and other reports of infected mosquitoes in Berkshire County this summer, Berkshire Mosquito Control has advised us to provide information as to how the public can best minimize the threat of exposure to the virus.
Please see the West Nile Virus fact sheet.
BMC has sprayed in the vicinity of the location where the mosquito was found and will follow up with a second spraying this week.
