Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by the chair, Nicholas DellaGiustina.

Community Participation:  Vanessa and Susan attended the meeting to get more acquainted with how School Committee is set up and run.  Vanessa has three children here at Farmington River and would like to be part of the School Committee at some point in the near future.  Vanessa asked what the procedures are for filing a grievance, and what the steps are for becoming a member of School Committee.  Nicholas DellaGiustina explained the procedures to Vanessa on both questions.

  1. Approval of Minutes of Meeting #353: The minutes of Meeting #353 were unanimously voted on and approved by the School Committee.

  1. Principal/Superintendent monthly updates: Tom provided the monthly updates concerning the school.  Tom filled the School Committee in on the hiring of Lisa Crozier.  Lisa is the new Principal’s secretary.

A bus issue was brought up to Tom’s attention.  Buses are running very late to drop off the middle and high school students on half days.  This applies when Lee and Berkshire Hills have half days and Farmington does not.  So Tom is looking into a more efficient way to run these routes, possibly renting another bus for the day.  Tom will update this matter at next month’s meeting.

The students are responding positively to the departmentalization.

Farmington had its first lockdown drill, which went well.  We are going to have an evacuation drill this month.  Students will be transported off campus to the Otis Town Hall to practice this drill.

  1. School Committee vote to adjourn to Executive Meeting: Carol Lombardo motioned to move into Executive Meeting. Vote was unanimous and  Roll Call was done.

  1. Adjournment: Motion to adjourn from Exectutive meeting,

Roll Call:    Nicholas DellaGiustina-yes, Jess Drenga-yes, Hillary Howard-yes, Carol Lombardo, Billie Pachulski-yes, John Skrip-yes, Arlene Tolopko-yes

Respectfully submitted,
