What the Town Clerk Does:
The Town Clerk is the official keeper of the records for the Town of Otis.  Responsibilities include recording, correcting vital records, and issuing certified copies of vital records.  The Clerk records Doing Business As (DBA) certificates, and issues annual dog licenses, and annual fuel storage certificates. The Town Clerk is the official keeper of all meeting minutes, and also certifies when Zoning Board of Appeals applications are received.
The Town Clerk is also the chief election officer for the Town of Otis.  The clerk arranges all details of local and state elections, along with local annual and special town meetings. The Town Clerk is responsible for sending an Annual Census to every resident in the Town of Otis.
The Town Clerk acts as a Liaison with the Attorney General’s office to maintain the Open Meeting Law.  The clerk also acts as a Liaison with the Secretary of the State Office to uphold elections laws.
The Town Clerk has an abundance of various jobs; some that occur daily, and some that occur seldom. The clerk’s job is one that requires patience and accuracy.  The various activities and responsibilities make being a Town Clerk an enjoyable job.
